I saw this on youtube and didn't believe that steel wool would light and make sparks so i tried it tonight ..... wowwww.. it's addictive... going to try and get a better one tomorrow

No! F/8 is pretty optimal for this application. Nice sharply defined light trails. If you shoot at too wide of an aperture, everything tends to blend together. If you shoot too small of an aperture it takes away too much of the image. F/5.6 to f/8 is a great range IMO.

Sweet ... so i guessed it ok .... going to try spinning it at different speeds and getting further away from the camera....it is soooo much fun....... hehe the neighbors wondered what was going on though

Yes... you place a wad of steel wool in a steel whisk... you ignite it with a 9volt battery/or lighter...you get sparks...whirl it around your head (i attached a 3 foot/1 metre long rope to the whisk) ..I positioned the camera about 30 feet from where i stood.. focused the camera on a torch i placed on the ground... set the camera for bulb using a remote....then after lighting, whirling, 29 seconds later the pic above was the result....
And I am still buzzing today it was soooo much fun to create this
