Difference between zoom and telephoto?

You guys are right.
I stand corrected.

A long focal length lens is considered greater than 50mm ... ie 100mm or 300mm (35mm film referenced).

A Telephoto lens is a long focal length lens that uses special optics to shorten the length of the lens ... but many use this to reference any long focal length lens size.
