Disgusting private email

They join the site blow it up spam and leave. This happens on other sites as well. Its a pita. But like stated i am sure management is on it.

I just got it twice. Somebody needs to get a life. Glad nobody was at my desk but me!

I think you misunderstand spammers. Disgusting and illegal as they are, they are not targeting you specifically. They're working on a percentage... 99.99% of their spams are just an annoyance. The .001% that results in a transaction is very profitable. Look at it this way... The infamous Buffalo spammer would send 3 million spams a week. If he made sales from just 100 of those spams each day then he was living high. I cannot remember what the figures were but he earned several hundred thousand a year from sending spam.

I feel overlooked. Nothing hitting my In Box. And I could use the excitement.

Oh god....it's happened. My lifes' ambition has always been to become a dirty old man in my later ( or is it latter) years. I think I'm there...hoping for porn spam from TPF. I hide my head in disgust.

...but if some young (or not so young) female wants to PM me....
bwaahahahaha

hahaha,

you guys got passed up but a guy with name thorhammer doesnt get even one hammering spam porn. :sexywink:

I feel so .."left out"

You'd think I would be the one getting the occasional random PM, but nooooo.....

Got one in my box today. Could have been much worst....

My wife got one but I didn't... I am crushed.

I feel like one of the unpopular kids at school. Not that I really wanted spam, but a PM would be nice!

got me too! from username: natural36DD. I reported it to "contact us" before I saw this post.

I frequent several different forums, and 3 of the ones I visit I got porno PM's. There must be something weird going on

Seems to have hit members with lower Post counts first.

Welcome back to all who were missing for a while! ...oh, and the "which SLR" question remains unresolved, just fyi.

Yeah, made me come back and have a look around again - I bet this was a cleverly contrived 'publicity stunt' by 'The Management' to get the number of 'hits' on the site up!! :lmao::lmao:

Seriously though, this sort of thing does happen occasionally and it usually takes a bit of time to realise what's happened before anyone can stop it - Although I want to know why all the PM's couldn't be automatically removed from everyone's inbox ???

They probably could, but you need the right Mod with SQL skills to be around at the time to do it - from memory, there are only a couple of them who have this ability.

Guys, this is the internet.... Porn is big business, ever had a pop-up appear when your browsing something innocent or mundane? It happens. Sometimes it is impossible to stop some forms of spam from happening... this one was almost like a virus.. multiple accounts made in minutes with instant PM's to members... we stopped it as fast as we could, but some of you will have still recieved the PM.

It is possible for us to go into your private messages and delete them, but i for one believe in privacey when it comes to any kind of personal Inbox.

So if this ever happens in future, treat the offending PM as you would any other spam you may recieve in your email... just highlight it and press delete.

You are correct. A co-worker's son used to work for someone that send out spams. And yes, according to my co-worker, that spammer is a multi-millionaire as a result of the spamming activities. The main reason why we will still have spam problem is ..... spamming can make those people rich. And the law currently is not able to stop them.

But I did not receive the spam this time though.
