I've seen these things sell for $19.95... DIY fixes that situation yet again.

Some cameras like a D3 or D700 have a built-in horizon meter, and we often forget to use them during those times that this could come in handy. Also, many of the higher end tripods now come with these little levels built-in as well.

yeah i got mine for $5.

For those that use their pop up flash for anything they should test fit that when the flash is up the new level wont make contact and stop it from fully popping up.

I use mine to trigger CLS so it was needed

Hmmm I always thought this was a novel idea but a waste of space. Wouldn't it be more suited strapped to the tripod head rather than the hotshoe? It would allow you to still use a flash.

Mind you I am just used to the 488RC0 ball head which has a spirit level on it, but still DIY gives you the flexibility to put it where you want. Just and idea.
