Photographers who ONLY do natural light photography are usually photogs who don't know how to use a flash. You will need a flash if you want to improve your photo skills and possibilities. Period.

I'm not going to get into what model because I don't know any of the new/newer ones since mine are like 20 + y.o. Just get one you can afford that will do what you want. Later, if you actually learn how to use it, you will know, without asking us, if you need to upgrade.

I bought a 430 EX II with little knowledge of how to use it properly. Consequently all of my subsequent flash pictures were awful. It's a great flash, but consider it a tool that you'll to learn to use effectively over time. I'm still trying to get there.

YN 565 gets good reviews as well - looking at that one myself for one of this month's purchases.
