Do they sell any cheap/affordable 600mm lenses.

Sigma and Tamron both provide 150-600mm zoom lenses, which give massive telephoto reach, even on a full-frame DSLR camera body and even affordable for everyone.

The best 150-600mm lenses are:
Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM
Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD

Yes my neighbor has the sigma 150-600mm. It's awesome. I was just looking at the Tamron 200-500mm and i can get it from amazon for about 750.00 and free shipping but i don't order anything off off amazon that is really expensive. I don't know where else i could get it.
It's not the time for it now anyway, it's just good to know that there is something somewhat affordable.

Thanks.

Whatever you do, please don't sacrifice quality for price. If you buy one of those Chinese super telephoto lenses, you will soon find it sits unused in your basement and you will go back to your kit lens. Be patient and watch for used equipment. Sometimes you can get good deals if you're willing to wait.

Yes that is exactly how i feel. i don't want to buy something and hate it because i have to manual focus or the images are poor ect...

Oh i just thought of something, does it matter what camera i pair the tamron lens with. I just have a rebel xs.
Also the same with the other more affordable lenses.

Thanks.
Tamron (and Sigma, for example) lenses will be designated to fit Canon, Nikon, Sony etc. So if you buy one, make sure it is the model made to fit your brand/mount of camera.

Hey now!
I have one of the Russian 500mm mirror on the Canon and though not a Canon F4 USM/IS, blah blah blah, it does perform fairly well.

Now I am actually NOT going to recommend it ,but unless one has shot some of the Russian glass, don't discount it just yet.

Manual focus is fine, but with conditions:
  • You know how to manually focus
    • This is not a given today, with so many people used to using autofocus.
  • The camera screen is reasonably easy to manually focus with.
    • dSLR screens are not as easy to focus with as the old SLRs.
  • The focus ring of the lens turns easily and smoothly.
    • This is not a given on older lenses where the grease has probably has dried up in the decades since being made.
    • Many brands used a thick grease, so even new, they were kinda tight to turn.
    • My brother's stovepipe 600mm lens has a screw in rod (focusing handle) on the focusing ring, so that you had more leverage to turn the focusing ring. Although it really wasn't that tight. The rod just made it easier to turn.
  • You have the camera+lens on a tripod or stable platform.
  • The higher the magnification the harder it is to hand-hold with any kind of stability, especially when you have to turn a stiff focus ring.
  • The physically longer the lens, the harder it is to handhold and focus.
  • The subject is stationary or moving VERY SLOW.
  • Follow focusing is almost a lost art, which requires a LOT of practice to learn and maintain the skill.
I think of manual focus like driving a car with a manual transmission (aka stick shift).
If you know how to do it, and the car and road conditions are right it works.

You did not really say what you needed it for or when you would be using it but here is an affordable suggestion for a Canon crop sensor.

If you are shooting wildlife in the day and have good lighting. With a 1.6x crop factor, a used 70-200mm f/4L IS is about $400-500 and then get a Canon Extender EF 2x III teleconverter for about $400. 200x1.6 = 320 x 2 = 640mm.

Or, a used 300mm f/4 for about $600 and a 1.4x TC would put you at 672mm.

I have a Sigma 150-600 lens for a Canon camera I might be willing to sell. It is about 3 years old. I just got the 150-600 Sports lens and don't need the other one anymore.
