What's new

Do you leave your lenses and camera in your camera bag when you're not using them?

Yes, I too leave my gear in my bag. I do not leave my bag anywhere it should not be.

Now my conceal carry pistol is a different story. When I am ready to put it back in my safe, I take it out of the holster.

HAHA id def not leave a pistol lying around in a zipped bag...i prob will never own one *knock on wood* hopefully things won't ever have to go that far where I live...i assume that's not a job-related necessity?

well i guess its settled. my 85, 80-200 will now be in my bag 24/7 until the day i need to leave one on a shelf cause of lack of space (id prob buy a hard case when its not traveling about tho). good to know that the moisture concern isnt really there and that they're safe and sound from damage....

in a completely unrelated topic...what bags do you use? i went for what seemed like a universal fave across the forums on the net and grabbed myself a lowepro flipside 300. i wanted space to grow into. the 200 would have been just right. i wish the 300 had space for documents but anything bigger would be just that, bigger and largely unused space and while it would last me a long time when additional purchases are added, i just felt right now it would be a waste.

(id prob buy a hard case when its not traveling about tho).

You just reminded me - my SLR, zoom, flash, 3 batteries, charger are in a hardcase. I just bought the case recently and forgot :)! I modified the foam compartments to accomodate it. But my other gear is loose, around the house.

I have several gear bags. One is my Lowenpro backpack which has the camera, lenses (4), flashes (2), filters, lightmeter, and other bits and pieces. Bag 2 is a tool bag with macro stuff, small stands and umbrellas, flash diffusers, etc. Bag 3 is a large equipment bag with larger light stands, modifiers, continuous light kit, and (I think) the kitchen sink. Bag 4 is actually a case for my waterproof P&S, which goes with me when Bag 1 is not appropriate. At the end of the day, I usually take my gear out of the bag, recharge the batteries, clean out whatever gunk I've picked up, download the pics, and do other "house-cleaning". Then it's back in the bag (s) to be ready for another day/session of shooting. Same process for my kayaking gear. Same process for my camping gear. Same process for my working gear.

I keep all my gear in a water tight Pelican case.

Me 2.

My most valuable gear goes into a Pelican case with divider set. I threw in silica packets into it. It takes 10 minutes to access and place stuff into a camera bag as I head out the door.

What Pelican? Post up pics!

I want one...

When I'm not using my gear I always leave them on my camera bag. Though sometimes when I've used the camera at home, I just leave it on the table due to my laziness.

When my P&S camera isn't in use I leave my lens cap on the lens and I remove the batteries out of the body so that the batteries can hold their charge longer. I never, never, never leave my lens cap off because I've heard horror stories about scratches and broken lens.

If there are long periods of time (I say a week) I'll them move my camera in a camera bag out of sun light and the bag and camera is always by my bedside.

I keep my flip side 200 loaded up ready to go and what I don't have in there is on the shelf our in the safe. If I know I have been in real humid or other wise nasty conditions I well take stuff our to make sure it gets clean and dry and ready to go out again
