Documentary Movies

I was wondering if there is any films made about famous photographers or any videos that follow around a pro for a day.

"War Photographer," comes to mind immediately. It is about James Nachtwey. I am sure there are others.

For years, there have been rumours of a documentary in the works about Gary Winogrand.

The movie "Fur" was a fictional account of the life of Diane Arbus. It was really a bad movie.

It is an interesting question. I am sure there have been other documentary films about photographers.

I had a guy tell me that he saw a documentary on TV about Helmut Newton. He wasn't sure if it was on HBO or PBS, or some other station.

That would be a documentary I would like to see.

I did a brief search, but I could not find anything. Maybe someone out here knows.

there are a wide variety of dvd's and some vhs tapes available. I will have to check my files to get you the specific titles.

Off the top of my head there is one about Paul Strand, Eugene Smith, Dorothy Lange, Ruth Bernhardt, Brian Laker , Ansel Adams, Edward Weston and others.
