As far as I know, the only cameras that nikon has on offer with an "uncropped" sensor is the D700 and the D3. Both are very good cameras, though the D3 is more robust.

Get the D300. Unless you want to record video. In which case, get the D300 and then get a P&S camera that can do video better.

It's an instrument guage with seals on it used to predict the weather.

Both of those cameras have 1.5x crop sensors. If you want a full frame sensor you'll need to look at the Nikon D700 or D3, or the Canon 5D mk II or 1Ds Mark III.
