Both of those cameras have 1.5x crop sensors. If you want a full frame sensor you'll need to look at the Nikon D700 or D3, or the Canon 5D mk II or 1Ds Mark III.

If you need weather seals and dedicated controls, get the D300. Otherwise, the D90 has a newer, better sensor.

But yes, they are both cropped sensors. I think the D300 is a more robust body.

Depends how "used" is the d300? If it's in good shape with a low number of shots on it, I would get it.
Wonder why he's getting rid of the d90? He couldn't have had it to long.

The D300 was released only last November and is rated for 150K actuations. I would hazard a guess that it's fine.

Yes, I think stsinner led the way on this one. When I saw the title I imagined a modern version of the bullsh*t detector (as demonstrated in the movie Delicatessen, for example) built into the camera. It would be a real distraction for snappers covering celebrity and political events.

lol... maybe not... it's most likely the same sensor but the d90 will have fewer pins for data transfer.... won't output 14 bit and slower fps.... just my guess..
