I'm working on a study of fences (a personal project, see my website for the progress so far) and this is one that I want to include, but I can't decide if the brown stripe behind the wire is distracting or enhances the pic? Thoughts, suggestions for improvement? Thanks!

the bright light in the top right is too distracting, but cool shot! the wooden beam works well here.

I'm glad you mentioned what this is because as a lone picture, I coulndn't tell. I agree with Raymond on the distracting light. IMHO, the wood in the background doesn't have to be so out of focus. there is not enough clear subject with the wire to make the image pleasing to the eye. I find myself loosing focus on the wire by trying to focus on and figure out what the background is.
