Took these looking out my kitchen window. There were quite a few others that were camera shy today, including a Bluejay, a female Cardinal, a Woodpecker and a couple more..... but I have all summer to get them.

Here's What I did get. All taken with a Nikkor 180mm f/2.8 AF-I on a Nikon D7000

And to show off the lens..... This is a 100% crop straight from the camera... Well, not straight from the camera, but damn near. Man, am I starting to like this thing.

Nice bird captures.

1. Male Cardinal

2 & 3. Black Caped Chickadee

4 & 5. White-throated Sparrow.

Thanks! I knew the frist one, but didn't know the other two. hopefully I can get the other birds I was talking about to come into frame sooner than later.

No that I'm looking for them, its amazing how many different birds are around my postage stamp sized back yard...... Right in the middle of the city too!

These were shot through your window, or did you open it? Either way they're nice and sharp. But especially so for shooting through a window.

I expected pictures of giants doin' cartwheels, statues wearing high heels, tambourines, and elephants playing in a band.

This thread is disappoint. :grumpy:

Toss a black sheet up behind your feeder and set some strobes up to light the birds.

Don't think for one second I'm not going to do this........

The thought had crossed my mind to use the strobes, but not the black sheet.

WooHooo! She came back!

I got the female Cardinal tonight......

And here she is with her boyfriend.

Sorry.... Window was open, screen removed.

I thought so. Either that or you have the best/cleanest windows I've ever seen. That doesn't take away from the shots though, they're nice and sharp.

So I tried this today for poops and chuckels.... just with the strobe, not the sheet....

Right after I got it all set up, I went back inside and it started pouring rain. Sun out and everything... pouring rain on my SB-600.

Gallon freezer zip locks. They'll fit around a flash with a radio trigger attached so that you can put it on a stand and still be safe from the water.

Shooting in the rain is fun.
