Dropped my 1Dx2!!!

Worst of my nightmare came true last weekend when (I am still trying to figure out how!!!) my 1Dx2 mounted on 600 f4 with TC lost its hold on the tripod head & landed on the ground from approx 2mts.

Thankfully the impact was on the camera body & the TC while the prime is safe & working fine. However, the camera gives err30 & refuses to focus.
While I am waiting for Canon service centre’s quote for repairing ( hopefully possible...), I wanted seek experience on performance of the body post such repairs.

just checking..was the tripod mounted to the camera or the lens?

Oh man, that is a bummer. Wouldn't want to drop a fine camera like that, or any really, but that one would hurt a lot. I'm sure they can fix it but curious to see the estimate. Did you figure out why it dropped so as not to repeat in the future?

It was on the lens. With 600 + TC, it has to be on the lens.

I surely share the feeling!
It does hurt. The estimate for camera repair by Canon is close to Usd 1k. This includes top & rear body cover replacement.
I am using a 400mm plate on a Sachtler FSB8 head mounted on series 5 Gitzo. My doubt is on the gripping tooth not holding or I might have missed checking on the hold before lifting the gear up on my shoulder.
