Here's my favorite picture of the day:

I am really happy with this shot actually. Please let me know what you think!

The subject on this photo, the young lady, should be on the left side of the picture. She is looking to the right, but there is no place.
DOF should be more shallow, because background is quite distracting.
And finally, it seems underexposed on my monitor.

Actually, I quite like it! I really like street photography, tho. You caught this young lady in quite a deep moment of thought or interest it seems! :) Leaves you to wonder what she was looking at or pondering.

On the street, you don't have a whole lot of control of the background. That's why a lot of it is shown in B&W; there are lots of distractions and colors, and it helps bring the focus back to your subject.

I really like the idea, shooting to a crowd but mainly focusing to one person. I really see it as a night shot more than underexposed, skin color seems a little too red. Good picture.

I agree with pretty much all the C&C so far. Here are some of the suggestions applied to your image to give you an idea. Sorry about the rough cut to make the re-crop.

Tomasko: That's a really interesting suggestion. Here's the best I could do (even the original image didn't have room to the right, she was walking fast >.<):

I like how the crop got rid of a very distracting person in the background, but does it make the shot too up close? It kind of loses the (small) crowd feeling because of the lack of other people now. I also decreased the temperature a tiny bit, I'm not exactly sure I like that change as much though. I will admit that it does make sense with the photo because of the 'cold' feeling it appears she has. Finally, I upped the brightness, which I think I like because it seems to add more focus on the subject.

What do you guys think of the changes?

Unfortunately that was the shallowest DOF I could get with my equipment (F/1.8 for this). Unless there are other settings I could play around with? And I'm a street photographer fan as well, but now that I'm actually doing it I feel a little creepy at times and also scared someone will be upset if they catch me snapping pictures of them haha.

Thanks for all the comments!

Oh wow, how did you make them switch places like that?? O_O Sorry if this is a stupid question..

Any feedback on the new edit?

I think the crop improved it. Overall, I do think technically the image could be better with a slightly higher exposure and a few of the other things mentioned. However, on the more artistic side it really manages to capture something that goes beyond the technical side of things. Kind of like how some paintings by very well known artists may have a limb slightly out of proportion; but, no one really cares because they get much more from the the overall work.

I like the positioning on the new edit you made but the rest of the processing looks over the top. Dont make a pasty white girl looks paler then she already is. for real.

Thanks, and btw that looks great! I actually thought about putting it in black and white originally but didn't feel comfortable putting it up here yet because I haven't read anything about B&W and when to use it//when not yet.
