Dusk OCF Outdoors

It was not completely dark when I took this shot, but very close to the last light of day. We were having a bonfire and I caught a few shots near the edge of the woods. So far, no regrets on making the leap to OCF. I still don't have the pocket wizards. I'm just using the wireless remote setting on my camera and flash. I plan on getting them soon though, as I will have a bit more leeway.

Thanks, IMD. It's OOF. I used the 85mm. The aperture was 4.5, 1/125, ISO 640.

Thanks! I used a square softbox without the panel. Silver interior. The box was placed slightly right of center. It was a tad higher than eye level. I would say it was about 4-5 feet in front of her. I also used on-camera flash (have to with the wireless remote on my camera).

I shoot RAW, so yeah, there is always post-processing involved. This was fairly straight-forward: Camera raw adjustments like highlights, shadows, contrast. Then cloning out a few blemishes, dodging & burning, warming (the silver reflector made her a tad cool), cleaning up a few pieces of lint on the black shirt, and sharpening.

Well done. It is a quality photograph because of the nice light quality and a light direction that provides just enough shadow for definition and depth to her facial mask.

That arm is just beyond the far limit of the DoF.
