Hi forum,

I am testing my new Ellinchrom lights, can I ask one question! what do you do in a small room the flash out put was still to much even after I set them to it's lowest power.

Neutral density filter material can be used to lower the output of the flash, but of course one needs to actually have some of that on hand. "scrims" made from woven steel wire or fiberglass window-screen-like material can also be used to lower flash output. Like these round ones made and sold by Matthews. A fellow can also try using a much less-efficient modifier, one that "eats more light", but it's probably not going to make that much of a difference in a really small room.

You can tape **** over the front of them. I do this a lot. It's surprising how much of the surface you have to cover to get much reduction.

Newspaper, paper towels, whatever.

I am gonna try some Lee filters and see about the skin tones or as suggested above cover the soft boxes with material to power down the output.

You don't have to cover the actual soft boxes, just the light. I have Elinchrom and the neutral density system made for it.
