Your update has some potential - much better without the grain - not sure about the photog4life posting of the sepia one with grain and slight vignette, but I also like it better than your original. Flatten the horizon and bring out some detail in the shadows, if you can, and you end up with a reasonably decent, somewhat moody image, IMHO.
