If only I could tell what those little carriages are? What are/were they for?
Have they been put out of use? If so, they still have amazingly bright colours, which in the end make this photo, of course.

They're Fairmont Speeders used by track gangs up until the last 5 - 10 years. Today they use pick-up trucks with hydraulic operated rail wheels for track use and regular tires for road use...
