Equipment for Lumix GF2

I own a Panasonic Lumix GF2 that came with a 14 mm lens and I would like a new basic lens for blogging and vacations and everyday stuff. Which would you recommend? I have heard that this type of camera is a micro 3/4 so that I would need an adapter. Thoughts?

You won't find many lenses available for your camera even if you use an adapter, because of FFD issues - Flange focal distance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Adapters that can correct the FFD use an optical element to do so. The quality of that optical element in the adapter is crucial to the ultimate image quality a lens + adapter can deliver.

Plus the 4/3 image sensor has a 4:3 aspect ratio (hence why it's called a micro 4/3 sensor) while most other DSLRs have a 3:2 aspect ratio image sensor.

Confused something wrong with a zoom designed for camera? As wouldn't want to slap on an adapter and lose AF & metering for vacations and everyday & General shooting. And would miss many keepers trying to manual focus and guessimating metering kind of thing.

The first step is to find out if someone makes an adapter that would allow using the Canon lens on your camera.

Canon's EF 50 f/1.8 II lens is cheap and has decent optics, but it has bottom of the barrel build quality, and delivers jittery, nervous, jarring looking blurred backgrounds because of it's el cheapo aperture blade set up.

Or can get the adapter for nikon lens for about $40-$50 and go Nikon 50mm f1.8D for about $125. Benefit many old manual primo glass can be had for under $100 that can be used.

Any native Oly or Panny m4/3 lens will work without the need for an adapter. Checkout mu-43.com. There is a lot of selling going on there.

I think the Panny 20mm gets great reviews.

The Oly 45mm 1.8 also gets great reviews.

Stick with native micro 4/3 zooms and lenses... adaptor + full frame optic feels big and clumsy on a GF#
