Essential Lense?

I recently bought a Sony A55 and am having a gas with it This is my first DSLR, technically SLT but anyhow... Just wondering what lenses do you find essential? I want to cover all the bases with a few lenses as possible. What do you think?

50 f/1.8 or 1.4! " nifty fifty ".

The 1rst one I bought. It didn't hurt that it was the most affordable on too
That said I really like it.
