Took this shot quite a while back, and not quite sure why I rejected it! It was raining very heavily and this bird came and sat at the balcony. I wanted a better angle, but didn't want to scare it away. Anyone know specifically what this bird is?

Ha! Nice picture of a very soaked little bird!
I've never seen a wet OR a dry sunbird, as we don't have them around here. Consequently, my sunbird ID skills are not very good, and especially my WET sunbird ID skills!

Still, just from looking at some options, here's my guesses, in order of what I think the strongest contenders are (strongest ID contender is #1, less certain as it goes down):
1. Olive-Backed. They have a bit of an eye streak, and even though it's too wet to tell, it LOOKS like there could be one here. Also, can't really tell much about the tail from this pose.
2. Female Black-Throated
3. Fork-Tailed

Haha, your responses always makes me laugh. My sunbird ID skills are non-existent, leave alone a wet sunbird!

After going through the images it sure looks like the olive backed sunbird (female). :)

Then let's just call it that…if we both agree, we're definitely right...at least until someone comes along who actually KNOWS. :D

:lmao: lol.. although now at least three more people will be required to vote against us and call this bird something else.

That's a rare Sun Eagle...

Really Nice shot however, I'm a sucker for lines, cool shot!
