EVERY MALLARD'S NIGHTMARE

Every Mallard's Nightmare ~ The heavy fog of early morning has dissipated into a gray mist as a small flock of mallards swing toward our rig of decoys. The boom of the smoothbores pierce the silence as three ducks hit the water, two dead, one swims frantically down river, a futile act of escape. I send MAC to make the retrieve and the pursuit begins as he explodes from shore into the cold river current. The swift waters take MAC and the duck downriver, a dance of prey drive and a quest for survival plays out before me. MAC is relentless and will not fail in his mission. MAC is every mallard's nightmare.

Isn't the mallard seeing this AFTER it was shot?
I would put the dog second on the nightmare list after the 12ga.

Assuming the bird saw the 12 ga. but if not then the dog being, "The Finisher", might well be it's nightmare.
