I've been confused on something for quite some time. I look at exif data with Opanda for Firefox as I'm sure many others do as well. I notice there are quite a few different things listed in the exif that I thought would and should be the same. For example, I was looking at this exceptional photo in this thread.... http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=121333 The exif is as follows.... Exposure time: 1/250" F Number: F8 ...... Shutter speed value: 7.97 TV Aperture value: 6AV Max Aperture value: F5.66 Now, could someone explain the differences in numbers here? Exposure time of 1/250, then listing the Shutter speed value of 7.97 TV. I would think that Exposure time and shutter speed would be the same number. And the F Number of F8 I would assume should match the Aperture value (6AV). And what would "Max Aperture value" be? This has been confusing me for some time now. Thanks
Some of these EXIF decoders are better than others, and it's entirely up to the programmer as to what they display and how it's displayed. The one I have for Firefox (Mac) says this. If I'm really curious though, I drag the file to my desktop, then drag it onto my EXIF Viewer app which gives me all this: Max aperture of f/5.7 probably means the lens would be wide open at f/5.7 ?? (f/5.6) so they were down one stop at f/8. No idea on "7.97TV" and "6AV" though.
I use an extension for firefox called Exif Viewer. You just right click on the image and select "view exif". (Not IE7...but they probably have something similar.)
Ha ha. Sorry I didn't see this thread a few hours ago when I started one with questions about EXIF data as well. I guess I'll post my questions here as no one answered me on the other thread. I've noticed that sometimes even my own posted images do not have the exif intact and I have no idea why. Why do some images have it and some do not? How can I keep exif intact on my own images and why would anyone not keep it intact?
Maybe it depends on the host. I thought Flickr kept it, they do on the site but not when I post a picture. Dropshots the other host I use don't seem to keep it either.. I could be wrong since it's only been about 2 hours I have known how to read it using that opanda site..
I right click a pic and select OPEN WITH KUSO EXIF VIEWER or OPEN IMAGE IN PHOTOME. I don't download any pics.
