I don't know why somebody keeps insistng that Photgenic is *the* oldest studio flash manufacturer...Harold Edgerton invented stroboscopic flash in 1931. In 1938 he made his famous photograph of a football being place-kicked, showing the impact of the kicker's foot on the football.

That someone is likely me... and THIS is why I keep saying it:

That said, being the oldest is no guarantee of being the best, but it does give them an edge on many fronts such as quality control, consistency and the knowledge that you are dealing with a reputable company that is not going to fold tomorrow. Their stuff is good... better than anything from the AB line and better than the Profoto Compact line or the Elinchrom Dlite line of products.
