Extended warranty?

Get a separate policy to cover all (well, most of) your gear. I have a policy for my gear that covers replacement value... in the house, in the car or while traveling.... fire, theft and loss. The cost is pennies on the dollar, but I don't nickle and dime it either. If the replacement cost is less than a couple of hundred bucks, it's not listed.
Exactly. I list everything though. The only reason for that, is incase I lose my whole pack at once. Little things may only cost $20 or $30 but they all add up to a decent amount.

Yeah, I meant a separate policy from our house insurance, but wasn't clear about that when I wrote my post. We get it from the company that does our home insurance (i.e. not a warranty offered by the camera store so that's what I was referring to). We pay about $15 per $1000 of equipment per year here, and it covers the really bad stuff like loosing your whole pack at once, as mentioned by GooniesNeverSayDie. Much, much more useful than the extended warranties!

Take the $100 and get the right stuff to do your own cleaning. I've found with other places doing the cleaning you don't always get a clean camera/sensor back. They most likely are only going to blow the sensor off and maybe smear some things around with a swab.

Although I've had great cleaning services from CPS.
