I want one or two extra batteries and a charger for my new Panasonic Lumix FZ1000MkII. OEM parts are quite expensive (64EUR for the battery, 45EUR for the charger), as one might suspect.

Browsing internet, Duracell has compatible batteries for 33EUR and chargers for 26EUR

Some retailers in Spain have kits (1 dual charger and 2 batteries) for 60EUR. Similar kits in Aliexpress costs 25EUR

Any advice on that? Can I harm the camera if the battery is badly charged (I see no other danger)?

Thanks

I use third-party batteries with no problems, go for it and save a lot of money.

Off-brand batteries, as recommended above. Virtually all are Chinese-made and many/most--I suspect--are cranked out by the same OEM with different labels.

My only caveat: Never charge a third-party battery in-camera. If it swells, you're screwed. If you use a charger and it swells, no big deal.

I've used Wasabi, Power Extra, Kastar, in Sony, Minolta, Nikon and Panasonic. I've had one battery swell. It was a Wasabi battery being charged in a Panasonic GX9. Fortunately it didn't swell much, and I was able to pry it loose without damage to the camera. Wasabi gave me a credit to use on whatever I wanted from their site.

It hasn't stopped me from using third-party batteries, but it has stopped me from in-camera charging.

I was given to understand that if the battery has 4 contacts (same as the Lumix) then it's perfectly safe to use
Not exactly sure why.
