Eye spy

Hey all,

I have been thinking about this idea for awhile. I think I am going to have to have another try with it. I may try getting one of those filters that lets you screw two lenses together for it.

It looks quite fake.

Well I respect your opinion but, its real, perhaps noisy and out of focus but real. I did this as a nod and wave to M.C. Escher's Crystal Ball. I have wanted to do a series on his work for some time. Once I get this one nailed down it will be the first in the series.

The eye looks like the person must now be blind. Poor person.

Suggesting that my ill use of a flash has blinded my subject is snarky and unjustified. There is no direct flash hitting the eye and if there was there would be a harsh and obvious reflection. If you look at the nose on the left side of the reflection you will see that the area is in a shadow, same with the eyelid. The light that is making it to the eye is being bounced of the ceiling then reflected off of myself. This is in no way a blinding amount of light.

I think you are taking this way too literal. I know it is real myself but it LOOKS fake and pieced together in photoshop.... like it is different layers that are not properly blended together.

The blind comment - I am pretty sure it was a joke.. i laughed anyways.

Great concept but IMO it needs work, you even said it yourself. If you get it right it will be great.

The fake comment is totally legitimate. Everyone I have shown the photo has said that. I think I have to try re positioning to an area with less layers of luminosity. or figure out how to evenly light my apartment. Also the nose is worsening the stitched together look. I am considering trying focus stacking but I am not sure it will be possible to stay that still. At least without using those clamps they used to use back in the 1800s for portraits.

Maybe it was a joke but the phrasing makes it easy to misinterpret. Especially in being so brief overall.
