Stop using on camera flash.
It blows all the micro-shadows out of the subject's face and makes it look very flat.
Plus you have that pin-point light in the eyes.

While I agree with Lew that the built-in pop-up flash is less than ideal, if it's all you've got, you can make it work. One easy way to improve pop-up flash is to diffuse it with something as simple as tissue-paper. You can also use, if the space is small enough, a piece of blank, white card stock to placed in front of the flash at an angle to bounce it either off of the ceiling or a nearby wall.

all i had was pop up at the time i have just recently bought a speedlite..
