Samerr,

I dont use a light modifier on my on camera flash. I think they are useless to be honest with you. Here is why:
1. If I am oudoor on a sunny day, I use the flash only as a fill flash. Most of the light comes from the sun. The intesity of the light is so small, there is no need to diffuse it.
2. If I am indoor I am going to bounce the flash anyway. I use a small bounce card indoor.
3. if you diffuse it you will lose a lot of flash power and will drain your battery quick.

Did you tilt your flash head or keep it straight at them?

We could nit pick away, but 17 minutes for a full family shoot that includes two youngin's? Pretty damn good my friend. I am willing to bet they are very happy with the results.
