Family Portrait Session!

Thanks tirediron. I've got a neutral density for my other lens, but haven't gone and grabbed one for the new lens. but I agree, the sky was actually really pretty . . .

I did one metered on the sky, and then used my reflector on them . . . just didn't give me enough back into their faces. Next time I'll pull out my wireless flash. Where would it be best placed, kinda as a diffused side light, or just straight on?

My first thought, just looking at the picture and the shadows would be to place it low, and to camera right, firing upward. I don't know that a diffuser is necessary, but maybe just dial it back 1/3 stop (depending on your flash and how back from the subject you place it).

Agree, the edit is much improved. Since your sky is so evenly blown, it probably wouldn't be too tough just to replace it with a different one. A really rich blue one would look out of place with the bright background hills, but if you have something in your collection that's just a bit darker, it might help.
