Feasible plan needed

I am in the process of going through all my photos in LR and rating them with the idea in mind of providing a viewable HDD for my family after I die. (My children want to keep my pix.)

Besides the usual Time Machine backups, I already have a readable copy of my files (main HDD) on an external that is backed up every SMWF. Every month I swap a copy of this drive with another in my son's possession.

HOWVER, many of these files are either LR edited with sidecar files or PSDs. My son, altho tech savvy is not photo savvy and I'd like to give him viewable files with as little extra effort t view as possible so I am considering exporting everything both as full res jpegs and tiff files.

Problems are that this will be computer intensive and large.

Bearing in mind what I want to do - keep a copy of files that can be edited and a copy that can be easily viewed by family, does anyone have a good idea of what to do and how to do it without huge recurring effort.

I am happy to buy any hardware/software needed.
My daughter, as my executor, already has all my username/passwords.

Why a full-res .jpg and a .tif file? This is a waste of ones and zeros for something that's going to be viewed electronically; 2000pix on the long edge a 100ppi is plenty for this, and it will load quickly as well as minimizing storage space. If there's something they want printed down the road it will just be a matter of having someone process a raw/.psd file into a printable one.

This is exactly the kind of question I need asked and answered
I am not so concerned about file size as I am planning to overbuy in disk space but I am concerned with processor time to resize.
There will be >20,000 files.
I will do a short run to test time to export re resize/export.

Another question is how to I keep this up to date?
I hate to leave it to be done by a friend for fear the process doesn't work so I'd like to start with the main bolus of files and update as I go.

Using a rating system of some type (flags, stars, color) will let you filter just those files in Lr. Highlighting all the files in that sort will let you export JPEG versions as a batch, anywhere you want. Granted a lot of files is going to take awhile. Your Lr catalog/catalogs, is where all the editing information is stored, so a backup of those (even a large catalog) is not excessive. If you have your raw files then any file utility will make as many backups of those as you want. As long as Lr's catalog knows where the raw files in the catalog are stored, it doesn't care.

Not sure why you're wanting to save tiff instead of the DNG??? If you're doing editing in Ps, a PSD file is generally smaller than a tiff and can generally be opened by other major editing programs.

The editing info is in the sidecar files and I don't want to burden my son with the need to buy/learn LR in order to get the files out in case of needing to print.

I am concerned about exporting as PSD; I wasn't aware that other editing programs will also open PSD.

Thanks, I don't (unfortunately) use a PC but the problem is a bit more complex than that.

I will look into perhaps getting a script that will cycle through folder structure, look at date modified in LR and export only those modified since last export.

After following a number of search thread I found 'Folder Publisher' a plugin by Jeffrey Friedl that may do everything I need in terms of export.
I may have to do two instances of it: one to export JPEGs and another to export edited images or raw files plus sidecar.
