What's new

Feeling overwhelmed

This August I will have had my 1000d for one year. I have A TON to learn...but I think for the most part I can hit exposure right off the bat, perhaps with just a few minor adjustments...and my composition is getting much better...I still have to learn lighting with flash...considering I don't have any yet...that'll be shoved to the back burner until at which point I buy some lighting...

I really have found I have a passion for this photography and that continues to drive me forward. If you have a true passion to grow, don't become discouraged. Just shut your eyes, imagine looking at the most beautiful photo ever in your hands and knowing that you took it. Then spend as much time as you can invest in creating that photo you had in your mind. I believe in you.

Nikon is for elitists...Canon is for people who want to take the best photos...

Sorry...just wanted to jump on the brand-elitist band-wagon

Q: How do you eat an elephant?
A: One bite at a time.

And also have friends join in to help you eat it faster. I.E. friends and families as photo slaves for learning.

Oh why do you have to hate? lol Canon shooters are some of the nicest people I've seen. I just prefer Nikon's control layout. :D

Yeah, well only if you have friends that don't mind. I had a falling out with a friend over my using him as a photo slave. Its not like I have an unlimited pool of friends to choose from. So I stick with landscapes, flowers, birds, etc. that won't get all hussy about me pointing a camera in their direction.

Didn't realize one would need a photo release signed by friends for practice shots. Lesson learned on my part...

My buddy Jon Heller is a nikon fan too...any camera with me behind it is good enough for me...I don't have an actual preference....

OP you're doing well from the looks of it! Like others have said, focus on one thing at a time. Maybe give yourself an assignment each week with a specific topic. For white balance, a good visual exercise is to set your white balance to daylight and then take pictures in all the different types of light. Shoot in the the shade, under tungsten lights, fluorescent, street lights, etc.

Sorry Kundalini....I had been smoking...what was it you said? I'm just joking....anyways a HUGE thank you for your tip kundalini rice
