I finally got her! I'm hoping she will return when the sun is higher, but I'm happy with this.

That surprises me. I thought hummingbirds would stay in Texas until it started getting cold.

I've seen them even when its cold. The male may be tending a nest nearby. I see the female flying back and forth from a tree across the back alley from my house.

Males start their migration about 1-2 weeks ahead of the females and the juveniles.
