went to a wedding with a pal who was using his canon 350d to capture some candid s for the pro shooter. when looking back at what images he had, to his horror, they started to disappear with a corrupted data warning. when downloaded the same files close down the viewing software. aprox 20% of the2 gigg card has been lost. what happened????????? any clues....

Probably his flash card..

Flash memory burns out after so many reads and writes.. they're getting better with time but it's still a problem. I'd get a new one, bigger too - cheap investment considering how much you NEED to rely on it when being paid to photograph something as important as a wedding.

Yep, most commercially available flash products are only guaranteed to withstand around 100,000 write-erase-cycles, before the wear begins to deteriorate the integrity of the storage.

It would only take 273 years if done once daily.

If you took one picture and erased one picture daily?
