Not sure if this is the best place to post this. My daughter is taking a class in college,The Art of Film. She needs a 35mm film camera such as a Canon AE-1 or a Pentax K1000. Looking for other comparable options and where to purchase one.

E-bay

Consult "completed transactions" for a price history.

Read the descriptions scrupulously. Contact the seller if you have questions.

KEH, Adorama used and B&H used are other options. The Pentax K1000 is a "standard." You might also find a Nikon for a decent price - something like a N70, N80, or N90; the "N" was marketed to the US but they are the same as the F70, F80 and F90. The Nikons can use current lenses, if she decides to stay with film.

What about a Canon EOS-1N?

There are a lot of M42 mount cameras and lenses available for not much $. They have little or no electronics so very basic. Also, it will let her find out how well she likes chemical photography w/o a huge investment. Pentax, Mamiya and Fujica all made screw mount cameras as did many others. I hope she has fun in the class.
