Filter Sony A-100 DSLR ?

Im headed to NY city and will be taking some pictures from my hotel room out to the city skyline, is there a filter or any tips to help me. I know the glass will be reflective so the time of day and location of sun is important. Any other tips? Shooting from the Mandarin Oriental shoot out the window in the directio of Central Park

Adding any kind of a filter would just put even more glass between the scene you want to shoot and your camera's image sensor.

However, Circular Polarizing (CPL) filters can reduce reflections in windows.

I think your best bet would be to call the front desk and request maintenance clean the inside and outside of the window.

Get as close to the glass as you can, it will help reduce any glare. I use one of those flexible lens hoods when shooting through glass as you can put the hood right against the glass and unless there is some outside glare, you won't even know the glass is there. (Providing it's half way clean).
