What's new

Final question on macro photography

All of my lenses (except for my 100mm macro) have 77mm objectives / filter diameter.. and the Raynox wont fit on them. I will try to rig something.

what is the objective / filter diameter on your lens? The Raynox will fit up to a 67mm.

I have 2 52mms and a 58mm.

Found that the Raynox will wedge into the hook and stay there pretty well... looks pretty good.

Sweet man

Cgi - get yourself a stepping ring, I use one for my 150mm (77mm filter thread also) and it fits without any problems at all once the ring is in place. Shouldn't cost you much either off ebay or from a good camera shop

What would this do?

Yea.. just never have ordered one! lol! But amazing, the hood held it really well... I will post the pics shortly!

Ok.. in response to Ressigree's request.. here are some shots. (all uncropped.. just resized to 800 on long side.. and compressed medium to reduce file size.)

First.. the setup.... D7000 with Nikon 28-300 lens (lens was set at manual closest focus in all tests). Two SB-900's on pocketwizards for light. Actuated with remote.

Next a size comparison photo.. using a dime

The Raynox series has the lens just wedged into my hood, since the Raynox won't fit my 77mm objective....

The Kenko Extension tube series was done with a 20mm tube... also have a 12mm and a 36mm.. but Ressigree said he was thinking a 25mm single... closest I had

Thank you so much man, I'm going with the Raynox for sure:)

On a regular Macro lens that is designed for ultra close focusing.. the Tubes rock! But on other lenses.. they are not necessarily the best option.

Glad I could help!

Also... the 28-300 has a pretty good macro ability on it's own... so that may be helping here. The closest focusing limits on your lense will probably change this entirely! Looking forward to seeing some shots! :)

Geezz... all that work, and not even a "like"!!!!! How am I ever going to catch Bitter if I don't get "likes"! lol! :P

hahahahaha.. thanks, Resigree! You cracked me up! :)

For all those photos you took for me.. you deserve all my likes lol.
