Finally Got My Macro Lens! - First Photo

Well after nearly a month of being backordered I finally received my Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro lens.

I went out in the yard to take some test shots, here's one... Flickr - Photo Sharing! (cant figure how to attach an image here? )


I dont have a tripod, or any lighting with it yet, and it was cloudy out as well.

If you can manage to get a remote or off camera flash (wired or wireless) you'll open up some amazing photographic opportunities for yourself.

A macro lens is remarkably sharp and makes an excellent portrait lens also.

Been having lots of fun with it so far - very happy I got it. I just need to get a flash and tripod and learn how to take focused pictures - so far out of the 100's Ive been snapping only a few look - okay - Most look totally abstract. I'm still really new to photography in general.

Any recommendations for a satisfactory - moderately priced tripod usable for both macro and portraits, and flash would be greatly appreciated! Was looking through threads for a long while and I am just not sure what to go with... cant spend 1000 on a tripod right now...
