FinePix HS10 Gone Blind!

Please can anyone advise? My Fuji FinePix HS10 is giving me a blank screen, both via the viewfinder and on the rear screen. It behaves as it would if the lens cap were left on. When I take first pressure it gives me a red box and a red !AF message. I've been unable to find a repair shop near me, but am reluctant to write it off in case it just needs a new chip or something tweaked. I'd be enormously grateful if anyone can help - thank you.

12 year-old p&s...Time for an upgrade. Even if you could find a Fuji service depot, I seriously doubt they'd even try for lack of parts.

Didn't realise it was that old - I bought it second hand 4 or 5 years ago! May not be what I want to hear, but sound advice - thank you.
