Fireworks and Exploding Chairs - TPF Germany Meet-Up

Later that night, we went to LaFoto's house to have a birthday dinner for her sister Christianne

59. Alex was too hungry to wait for the food to be served, so he decided to eat his own face.

60. And Hertz couldn't figure out how to pick up the strange German food.

61. So he told a good story instead.

62. But eventually, we were all served some fine Canadian cuisine
IMG_1930.jpg

63. And drinks, too:

64. Florian showed off his mad wine pouring skillz:
IMG_2002.jpg

65. And we enjoyed it:

66. Later, Corinna's choir showed up. Alex listened contemplatively to something in German:

67. Hertz was so moved by our discussion of politics that he decided to defect to Canada:

68. Meanwhile, I got bored and decided to make some "art":

Only very few people from my choir showed up, but that was OK, wasn't it? And you got a lovely photo of Alex and the OTHER Heike ("The Young Heike"), as opposed to my indispensable assistant Heike-with-the-bike-a. :D

Yes, and I had a nice conversation with the young Heike :D ... finally able to train my German again ;)

On Thursday we had lunch in the mill in Scheeßel after our canoe race... I mean trip!
:lmao: 'Race' is more accurate! Bit of a Freudian slip there, eh?

I'm sure Corinna meant for us all to have a leisurely paddle down that pretty little river. Instead, we all seemed to go quickly, with some dirty tactics (like grabbing boats and shoving them into the banks, or backwards) going on by the eventual 'winners'. But they cheated I tell ya! We (the Canadian/British racing team) wuz robbed of victory!

Oh my. Sky has already arrived at Thursday night in his narration and I'm still with our Sunday ...

... where at long last I tried to pull this photo off in St Lucas Church in Scheeßel (where we usually have our choir concerts, only will we have our next in Bremen Dom, i.e. the cathedral, on 19 June), only to find out that Tony managed to get a much, much, much better one! :grumpy: Tony's photos of St Lucas Church are magnificent, anyway!! Too cool.

The area of "Meyerhof" is always beautiful, albeit a tad deserted (as was all of Scheeßel on that late Sunday afternoon, which Tony's photos show so well), and we couldn't look anywhere inside, either. And we never got back there later.

Millions of "Pizza-Flitza"-pizzas and salads rounded the day off (first time I had delivery pizza in my life! :D)

I also have photos of people EATING their pizzas, but ... be honest: photos of people eating are those that people later hate the most. So on to Monday and to Hamburg for me, at last.

In a next post, that is.

Hey, but you two LOOKED good! And came in second! Unlike your HOST and her sister who came in LAST!

It was just as well Florian was sitting there telling you you all had to go right and not straight on (and straight into the weir). We rushed like crazy in the end in order to shout it out to you: to no avail. You were too fast!!! (And then, with the end of the trip in sight, Christiane gave all up and said "No more. I'll stop here and NOW!" :D

You know what's (second) best about the CD my dad mailed me, with his photos taken of the "canoe race"?

It was wrapped up in bubble wrap! :drunk: "I want more!"

(Maybe I should have had some of that on Wednesday... )

the American-Holland duo won that race fair and square. We were unbeatable with our magnificant kanu skills.
Working on the next batch of pics at the moment
Now all there is left to say is: ZWANZIG :D

Looks like I missed out on a lot by leaving early eh?

Some great shots up there!

Well, Jeff and I did show you what we could do, but then we slowed down since we did not want to spoil your fun :-P

uhuh suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure, its only because we didnt feel like getting to exhausted and we actually took our time on the Wumme. If we really would go at it, you would be eating our waterspray.
And yes Tony, you missed alot. It was a shame you went home early, but you did taste a good part of the TPF meet-up :D

Well you were obviously there long enough to pick up some bad habits....

And we saved you some pizza. For a week we saved it.

It would have been great if you and Sandie could have stayed longer. Corinna and her assistants really did a wonderful job of arranging for us to see the local sights and do fun stuff like the canoeing. And you missed the French Toast with maple syrup breakfast, and the consumption of the Canadian Club whiskey....*

*For those who may wonder, these were separate events. We didn't have the whiskey at breakfast.

next batch of pictures.
Now we have arrived at Luneburg.

#16 Once we entered the city, the locals started a massive stampede (well as massive as it can be in Luneburg) and ran away from us
TPFGermany016.jpg

#17 Alex looked like someone parked his/her bike in the wrong bike stand
TPFGermany017.jpg

#18 "Und it waz thiz big" Heike talking about the snake that Sabine caught earlier this week
TPFGermany018.jpg

#19 Chris was amazed about.........well something, i dont know what.
TPFGermany019.jpg

#20 Suddenly the locals came back on bikes and busses to scare us out of their town
TPFGermany020.jpg

#21 But luckely we had Alex on his noble iron stead and the locals fled the scene by the sight of this
TPFGermany021.jpg

#22 This was a friend of Heike and she was taking us through the city
TPFGermany022.jpg

#23 This is the street were the ladies of horizontal pleasure live
TPFGermany023.jpg

#24 When things get to hot in the street, you can use this. If things arent hot enough for you, you can probably use this too....in some way or the other
TPFGermany024.jpg

#25 Door and windows....i think we need a seperate thread for all the door and window shots we made in Luneburg
TPFGermany025.jpg

#26 After Luneburg we went to a little church, were our model fell a sleep while waiting for us
TPFGermany026.jpg

#27 And you allready saw this dog, great little bugger
TPFGermany027.jpg

#28 During the horsecar ride Jeff was checking out were the strange noises came from.....once he started smelling it, he knew the origin.
TPFGermany028.jpg

#29 And the 2 horses which pulled the car.
TPFGermany029.jpg

#30 And i apperantly forgot to size this one down, but i dont feel like that now........so just live with it :-P

Katharina is Heike's friend's name, and I only met her there and then for the first time, too. And you got a really nice photo of her, while mine is far from good. Why is it I don't get the sharpness? I'm frustrated now :( ...

Ah, and another question (to Daan): what is it you photographed in Meyerhof while I took a photo of you photographing it? (The photo where Tony talks to Christiane in the Meyerhof garden - you know, that sort of Open Air Museum thing in Scheeßel).
