my 350D has an option to update the firmware and there's nothing in the manual about it, My question is:

What does updating do (besides the obvious)
Where do I get the updates from?

1st check and make sure that your camera doesn't already have the newest firmware. I just got my 350D on Friday and it already has it. It doesn't add any new features. Just fixes a couple of small probs.

Follow the link, it tells you what it fixes (if not, dpreview does) and it tells you how to install it.
