So it's perfect? I should go pro and start making the big $$$?

Rotate the camera to Tall next time, and drop the lens's level down a bit lower...the time of day has nice, warm lighting.

This is not so much a portrait as a picture.
I see a picture taken from this high an angle and I am wondering why? What is it that I am supposed to be getting out of this?
If you are taking a 'portrait', show us the person, show the face, show the eyes, let us see what you see.

Thanks. I did shoot a few tall but because I wasn't low enough, like you said, they look VERY tall...

When the picture is 'tall', it is in portrait mode; when it is ;wide' it is in landscape mode.
The ratio of one side to the other side is called the aspect ratio. Typical sensors are 2:3.
Portraits, imo, are much more suited to 4x5 aspect ratio.

Thanks. I've never been good shooting people, so that really helps. So, because of the composition errors this is not considered a portrait?

Edit: Just saw your post above. Got it.

I see cleavage.

My guess would be that you have seen very little of it in your life.
So your excitement at this is understandable.

You would be very wrong. I live with ample cleavage attached and you misunderstood my post completely. There was absolutely zero excitement there.

That's an interesting assumption to make about a poster, considering they're female. Maybe you should keep traveling, until you learn what the difference between a serious, and a less than serious post is.

Come on portraits really dont have to be shot "portrait" everytime. I think its great that an amateur is playing with angles like this.

i think the composition works well for this shot as well as the eye level.

Simply telling the OP to shoot RAW without giving them a reason is not really totally helpfull. I personally always shoot RAW but for people who do not want to adjust the white ballence and only tweak the levels jpg is totally fine.

IMO, no. I think a portrait should show us something about a person deeper than the outside skin.
This could be an advertisement for sunglasses because that seems like what you are looking at.
That is the only obvious point of interest in the photo.

Here are three casual portraits, not posed, just snapped. I attempted to show the eyes, try to make the viewer see what I saw. Eyes, Eyes, Eyes are important.
