There's still a pretty harsh glow around the hand. Have you tried using Exposure Blend in Photomatix?

I think its a great shot for HDR to be honest. I just dont think that enough range was given to the exposures.

If that's the look you're going for, stick with it. The hand, while obviously unrealistic, is effective in it's own right, as with your first photo.

You should always consider editing and trying different formats. Nowadays, too many photographers have their mouse dragged over a particularly folder, constantly... the Recycle Bin.
