So this is my first ever attempt HDR, and I'm really not to sure what I'm doing(right or wrong). I'm kind of looking for ways to process HDR images properly, I used photomatrix but I'm really not sure what all the sliders really do and which ones I should use more of or less off. So I'd appreciate a little C&C.

I like it. The best way to learn Photomatix, or any software really, is to simply spend some time playing with it. Trial and error. Slide a slider and see what it does.

There is no way to 'properly' do HDR. It's only 'proper' if the process gets you the results you want.

That said, you did a great job on this one... outside of the trees it really doesn't have that HDR look to it.

Often it's not so much of a question how you do HDR as sparky wrote, but if an image actually needs its it. It's all about light.

It's a fine image and I don't mean this photo needs or doesn't need HDR--that's up to you. You'll learn as you "see" the dynamic range of a subject. Sometimes an image just needs an adjustment in Adobe Camera RAW to balance its contrast range.
