First attempts in the living room...

Hey guys, new to the forum and to photography. Picked up a canon 60D 2 months ago and finally figured out what iso, shutter speed, F stop does. I am only using equipment that i can afford at the moment. Equipment: 2 lights and a paper backdrop, Canon 60D with sigma 50mm. I wish I have some extra cash left over to buy a flash so right now I am using the built in flash, i guess this is why there are shadows in the backdrop. Please leave comments and tell me what I can improve on or what i did well on.

For just beginning, everything looks good.

Only suggestion would be to adjust your (2) lights accordingly to reduce or get rid of the shadow that appears to the right of the subject.

does anyone know if my 60d supports wireless flash or do I have to buy one of those wireless transmitter devices?

You're doing great! Might help with the shadows to move subject away from the backdrop a little more, love what you're doing after only two months.

you're best bet is to get a canon speedlight (not sure which one as i am a nikon shooter), then get a strobist setup from adorama. Mine cost just under 50 bucks without the speedlight. Stand, bracket, and umbrella.

The shadow you see is from his on camera flash when he turned his camera. I have the same photos from my camera with a Canon speed lite and bouncing the flash off the ceiling and there was no shadow.
