First attempt at college football and I think I am getting the hang of composing and shooting sports.

They look a little soft ... is it the lens (being wide open) or focus being a little off ?

Lens being wide open and the focus may be off. I am just learning how fast past sports photography is so in a couple of these I just pointed and hoped it focused. Any tips on which focus mode to use for games like these? I had it on single focus point but now im leaning towards the 9point focus option.
