first DSLR 1st post

A couple weeks ago i got a used Canon XSI. Monday my Sigma 30mm F1.4 came in and i tested it out. Im still learning all the features and settings

cute dog alot of the photos are blured however the 4th one in very nice

many of them seem oof. Were you shooting at f 1.4? That might be why the focus is slightly off on some, at such a wide aperture, it can be tough to focus spot on in close range.

wait. maybe not. Were the longer exposures? Below 1/60?

OMG if that's not the cutest dog ever! Nice shots. I really like #2 & #3. I agree about the focus, though. Still really great shots.

i was thinking the blurry background is bokeh? i think i could have centered the pictures better.

the dogs just got done eating alpo which is why his mouth is so dirty

On that note, the rule of thirds is a good thing to read up on.

They're pretty much all out of focus, work on your focusing technique and don't try and use the lens wide open (at f/1.4) until you have mastered it.
