This little sweetie is 2 month old. This was my first time outside of Sears Studio that I have shot anyone this young. Helpful critique welcome!

This was indoors, in a living room, on a blanket on the floor, with my D7000, 18-105mm lens, and SB-600 bounced off the ceiling.

watch the tight framing. #1 looks soft. #2 framing is bad.. cut his head off. #3 would have been nice except for the TILT and the tight framing! #4 is cute...

I agree with the tight framing. #1 and #4 look soft to me. I also am not liking the shadow below the flower on her head in #1. One of the downfalls of bouncing your light off the ceiling. #3 is cute, and I don't mind the tilt as long as you've got a straight one for mom to choose from as well! In general I try to avoid lots of different tones in one gallery. If mom wants a set to hang on the wall, generally she will want them all of the same tone.

#4 is the only one that has merrit and it does have merrit. Keep at it!

Nice work. Number 1, as others have stated, is soft- it looks like your focal point was high up on the head and the shallow DOF became a problem. Focus in the closest eye before capture.

Number 3 is a great illustration that babies can have blotchy skin that creates an unpleasant texture in an image. Front lighting may minimize this but the best fix is to soften the skin in post. If you're using LR, negative Clarity will blend the skin nicely.

My favorite is number 4- there's a story and a relationship there that's more than just an image. Wonderful shot.
