As a full time School Portrait Photographer you could say I have experience in portraiture but you're wrong.
This is my first Photography job and I had no prior experience in the field. I do the exact same pose/lighting all day everyday which gets kind of boring.
I believe I'm very good at what I do and want to continue improving in all aspects of Photography. In order to expand my skills I just brought a cheap Canon 50mm 1.8 Prime lens to try some different types of portraiture.
To say the least I'm more than amazed with the Image quality you get for the price and crappy build quality.
Anyway me and the Girlfriend walked the dog today so I used the opportunity to give it a go.
I'm really Happy with the results as this is my first attempt at outdoor shots.
If anyone could give me some tips or point me in a direction on posing, framing and all that I'm all ears!
Cheers

I think all four could be better by framing in portrait format and #'s 2 & 4 framed a little looser.

The light is very good.

Your camera will work when you turn it 90 degrees!!!! Honest, it will!

;)

Not fond of the background in #3, but other than that and that as mentioned, a vertical orientation would have helped, I think these turned out nicely.

What they said. Also really like the sharpness and color.

Would a little bit of skin smoothening help at all or just distract from the sharpness of the photo?

great shots, but could improve on framing.

Thanks guys.
I do have verticals but we weren't happy with how the jumper looked out so stuck with the head shots.
The main aim for me was to test the dof of the lens so these where the best for what I wanted.
There's so many horizontal portraits out there I wanted to give it a go and as I shoot hundreds of verticals all day I wanted to change it up.
