sorry about the quality, our scanners not the best
anyway, looking for some tips/constructive criticism

its a bit to close for me... and is out of focus.. it took me a minute to figure out what it was...
giraffes have such awesome colors, why would you black and white him???

i dont think the scanner is the problem. there are many things wrong w/ this pic that have nothing to do with the scanning quality. as chris said, i dont understand your use of b&w, when giraffes have such cool colors. also i'm not a fan of the composition. there also seems to be some focusing issues, that arent just simply explained away w/ the scanning.
